Born July 4th 1970 in Chicago Illinois.

Along with my musical recording projects as a guitar player/singer, I am known in and
outside of Los Angeles for being an underground jazz/rock/world music drummer.  For the
past 5 years I have been host/drummer/bandleader to regular weekly jam sessions at DUBES,
featuring many of the top improvisational musicians in Los Angeles.  Shea Welsh, DJ
Bonebrake, Angel Lebron, Michael Fortunato, Michelle Coltrane, Evan Calbi, Amir Efrat, Max
Perkoff, Oran Ben Avi, Lior Ron, Franz Merphert, Elvira Barjau, Gregroie Raymond, Shin
Kawasaki, Tal Moore, BJ Dubin, Wayne O-Mills, Richard Hardy, Erik Krogh, Sam Riney, Pete
Korpela, Robin Russell and many others.  This is some of the most exciting music being
played in Los Angeles!!!

I was also the house drummer with The Pickering Street Players, a children's theater group
with musical director Paul Cady from 2005-2008.  We played top shows like Annie, The
Nightmare Before Christmas, Fiddler on the Roof, and The Wizard of Oz and many others.

And I played drums for the critically acclaimed A Night with Paul Lynde starring Michael
Airington playing The Madrid Theater and a very successful run at Ultra Suede in West
Hollywood in summer of 2006.  Stay tuned for the resurrection of the exciting show!

I’ve also worked with Black Note, Eric Reed, Vernell Brown Jr, Gilbert Castellanos, Mike
Elizando, Ray Campi, Skip Heller, Nicole Martel, Anne Keeler, Robert Drasnin, The David
Becker Tribune, David Schiffman (Esalen Inst.), The Danny Gale Quartet (Royal Caribbean
Cruise Ship), Jeff Jones (Italy), Rick Ness, Steve Uppling, Osama Affifi, Greg Erba and
many others!!!

As a guitarist, in 2007 along with my brother BJ, we formed 226 SOUTH WABASH to play at The
Monterey Bay Blues Festival.  That famous address is the former address of my family's
FRANKS DRUM SHOP in Chicago, Illinois.  The after party pro jam session at Sly McFly’s on
Cannery Row was AMAZING!

I've produced two CD's The Little Red Box and Coming Back w/Greg Erba.  Both available on
iTUNES and CD BABY.  I have two music video's Do You Get Me by director Jaret Sacrey
produced by myself and James Bennett.  And Butterfly Baby directed by Matthew Magnolia.

In 2007 my group The Dubin Collective played on the short film Tonight Only providing an
improvised jazz score to the Jaret Sacrey directed short (premiered @ Macedonian Film
Festival 2009).  And in 2008 Jaret and I collaborated again on an Ashley Furniture
commercial in which I wrote the music and performed on the stoop of a brownstone on the NYC
Backlot Street’s of Paramount Studios.

I have been playing drums since 1972 and teaching drums since 1984.  My grandfather Maurie
Lishon (PAS Hall of Fame) and Uncle Marty Lishon owned the world famous FRANKS DRUM SHOP in
Chicago, IL.  I am a former student of Phil Stanger, Master Teacher Freddie Gruber, Gregg
Bissonette, and Jim Ganduglia (Johnny Mathis).  Babatunde Olatunji also became a tremendous
inspiration to me after meeting and playing for him at Esalen Inst. in Big Sur, CA.
inspiring me to study hand drumming with Leon Mobley.

I grew up around the best drummers in the world like Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Alex Acuna,
Chester Thompson, Phil Collins, Emil Richards, The Grateful Dead, The Doobie Brothers, and
The Allman Brothers who were all frequent family friends/clinicians/customers of FRANKS
DRUM SHOP.

I've taught drums for The Music School in Sherman Oaks, CA, and Drummers World in Sherman
Oaks, CA, and Woodlow Music in Woodland Hills, CA.  And, I co-taught the three jazz bands
at The New Rhodes High School in Santa Monica, CA w/Shea Welsh 2005-2006.  I now teach
private drum/guitar/percussion/bass/music lessons out of my home studio and live web cam
guitar lessons via SKYPE on the internet.

I have a BA in Radio Television & Film from Cal State University Northridge with a Screen
Writing emphasis.  And I've written two spec scripts.  I also was The Stage Manager at the
world famous House of Blues on Sunset in 1995 at which time we produced sometimes up to 10
acts a night with artists such as Eddie Palmieri, Jimmy Cliff, Parliament Funkadelic, King
Sunny Ade, Boz Scaggs, Hugh Masekela, and Manu Dibango to name a few!  I have also worked
as a production assistant on The American Film Market in Santa Monica, CA, American
Gladiators, and as an assistant to The Media Exchange.

I am available as a drummer for recording, touring, private instruction, and clinics.
Also, as a guitarist for writing, recording, touring and teaching.  And, I specialize in
making other musicians and singers sound GREAT!!!  Although, pay me well and I can do just
about anything!!!:0)
